How did Radio Poplar start?

Radio Poplar was formed as a charity (no 517552) back in June 1985 it started as a hospital radio station broadcasting to the patients and staff in St Mary's Hospital in Armley Leeds.

Following a recent reduction in long stay care provision the volunteer broadcasters looked at other ways of broadcasting.

This resulted in us setting up a broadcast station using our considerable expertise and talent on the world wide web.
